East secure another hard fought away bonus point.
Tough game, great opposition and lively travelling support - East come out on top
Chapel gate was the venue for Easts travels for a local derby with neighbours Bournemouth 3s. East had won the earlier fixture at Iford 26-17 so they knew a tough game loomed.
They started well and gained good territory and possession into a strong head wind. Spanky opened the scores with a well struck penalty. A couple of wayward passes and some good defending stopped the Iford boys from scoring a try. Bmth used the wind to clear their lines and kicked a pen after East infringed. The ref (who was very good) was letting the game flow and Bmth scored the first try. Their 9 selling a huge dummy pass before sprinting over, Easts guards going awol.
Undeterred, and still into the wind, East pushed forward. A catch and drive from a line out on the 22 saw Moog ground the ball. Great to see a catch and drive!! Shortly after the visitors were awarded a penalty 5m out. Sam Linford was passed to and charged through a gap to score.

With a following wind East could now go on to win. But they made it hard work. Bmth were a good side and the mix of experience and youth kept the table toppers on their toes. Finally though it was Spanky who broke and the ball eventually found Hen to score a good try. This was kicked and a penalty followed. It was Tres who secured the bonus point, a tap pen was fed along the line, good hands saw him score in the corner.

Bonus points are again so good to get after a tough away game. Great to watch and the attitude was once more in evidence. Spot on!! Thanks to all the supporters who made this seem like a home fixture! Puddletown next, see you at training!! Stu
